We are in the process of updating the town’s Comprehensive Plan, last completed in 1976, which focused on what we as a community want our town to be like now and in the future. The necessity to update the Comprehensive Plan has been recognized, and through the effort of the Town Planning Board, a Steering Committee, with volunteer support from the community has been organized.
You can be part of this process and have your concerns addressed, starting with the Community Survey that began in November 2006. Your responses to completing the attached questionnaire will help us find out what’s important to us as a community, and serve as a guide for developing the Town’s new comprehensive plan for future growth, development and preservation.
Additionally, discussion groups have been conducted to obtain more detailed opinions you may have on various aspects that affect our community.
There are many good reasons to conduct a community survey. Among them are:
We hope you realize the importance of getting involved in this process. Not just with this initial survey, but also with any of the meetings (all are open to the public), as well as contacting anyone who is involved with the process. The Comprehensive Plan meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at the Town Community Center.
Tabulation and analysis of the results concluded in April 2007, but you may still send in your questionnaires to have your opinion heard. Feel free to use the space provided for “write-in responses,” so that we may capture your comments in more detail. Please add an additional sheet to record your more detailed responses.
You may mail in or drop off the completed questionnaire at the Town Community Center. We’ve provided a convenient self-addressed return envelop for this purpose.
We sincerely thank you for your help in this collaborative process.
